We planned to stay 1 night at Cotswold Cottage but after arriving on site and meeting Garth and Adrienne we decided to stay 2. And that was before we had experienced their fabulous breakfast.
Accommodation was excellent, breakfast superb and Garth planned our day exploring the wonderful peninsula to perfection.

  • All of the other glowing reviews for this special Bed and Breakfast accommodation are totally justified. The location is lovely, with the house surrounded by pleasant gardens and set up on a rise with views over the racecourse and green fields to the hills. Adrienne and Garth are such welcoming and accommodating hosts, you couldn't do better. And the breakfasts are another memorable treat - whether it's toast with a choice of spreads, delicious muesli or other cereals served with fruit, a full cooked breakfast, or pancakes, nothing is too much trouble. The rooms are comfortable, well-appointed and very clean, and the area totally quiet at night (the only exception to this being that you will hear other guests in their rooms, and if they arrive late or leave early, but otherwise silence reigns). There is outdoor seating to enjoy, either on the deck outside the guest rooms or out in the garden, tea and coffee facilities whenever you want to use them, and if there is anything else you want, just ask. Nurse Adrienne was even able to provide treatment and a plaster for a graze when we discovered that we had left our first aid kit at home.

“Quaint and homely surroundings, excellent service & care taken.”

Outstanding b&b on elevated landscape. Fresh produce used in breakfasts. Manicured gardens and helpful hosts - with lots of advise on tourist attractions. Stay was very pleasant - big recommendations for CotswoldCottage!!

Clean, pretty, great views, wonderful and helpful proprietors! I strongly recommend this B&B especially if you want to travel late from Auckland to Coromandel.... This is a wonderful part way stop. Lovely room with every convenience and good, free wifi. Owners were very helpful with our future travel plans, even making phone calls for us about times things were open etc. Gave us suggestions and maps to take with us. We loved it.

  • Pros: facilities, hosts
  • Cons: Nothing I can think of
  • Location: Recommend Mussels Kitchen
  • We stayed at Cotswold Cottage on our way to Hot Water Beach and really enjoyed our brief stay. The house and gardens are beautiful and there is very thoughtful attention to room details-- they clearly have put a lot of work into their home. The view from their hill is beautiful, and I could imagine spending more time here and being very comfortable. The breakfast was really nicely done. Garth's personal session recommending travel routes and sites was priceless! Otherwise we would have likely passed up the pig man and the Mussels Kitchen which were seriously two of the more memorable highlights of our Coromandel trip. Coming off of a 5 night camping/tramping trip in the north, it was just the right pampered experience.

Lots of great ideas for Coromandel and guided us to some excellent stops that we would have missed without their recommendation. Rooms are cozy, common area has lots to use, and the breakfast was a delicious Kiwi fare.

  • One of our best b and b stays ever. On arrival, we were served tea and home made cakes on the patio, overlooking the mountains. Adriane and Garth were excellent hosts and nothing was too much trouble for them. Garth was most helpful in advising us what to do to get the best out of our stay. We only wish we could have stayed longer.

  • Pros: Clean, friendly, beautifully decorated and great views.
  • Cons: We are very social folk so the shared public areas were a bonus for us, if you are after complete privacy I would email Garth first to arrange.
  • Location: Thames township has good cafes and a few quaint shops. Drive to Paeroa for antiques, along the coast up to Coromandel for remarkable views.
  • Cotswold Cottage was a last minute booking as we had call to stay in Thames the night. So pleased we found it - it was truly delightful. ,Very old world and 'cottagey' as one would expect but extremely well kept and immaculate facilities. If you are a sociable kind of person this place is for you as you actually mix and mingle with the other guests quite easily. Garth and his wife were super friendly and hospitable. The breakfasts were delicious. We loved it.

I could not fault Cotswold Cottage in any way. I am only sorry I could not have stayed longer. Adrienne & Garth were wonderful hosts who could not do enough for me. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this B&B to anyone looking for accommodation in the Thames area.

We stayed at this delightful B & B and thought it was great. Garth and Adrienne make you feel very welcome in their home. Rooms are spacious and very comfortable and spotlessly clean. We would definitely recommend this wonderful place to any one that wants a wonderful experience in a fantastic part of the North Island. The breakfast was great and Garth was extremely helpful with our travel plans for the next part of our trip. Thames is a great place and is a must for anyone visiting the Coromandel.

Cotswold Cottage was a lovely surprise. Garth and Adrienne were very welcoming, complete with tea and scones. Very helpful without being overbearing, felt very comfortable. Room was lovely with great view and the rotunda lounge was very cosy. Brekky was hearty with lots on offer in a cute dining room. All in all our stay was great. Highly recommend.

Stayed in the Neatherwood Suite with the very comfortable four poster bed, lovely modern bathroom with big shower and spa bath. Beautiful mountain and river views, gorgeous sunset. Our hosts made us feel very welcome and served us a delicious and generous breakfast in the morning. Really enjoyed a relaxing soak outside in the hot tub under the stars.

When I requested to stay at Cotswold Cottage, my request was answered promptly, professionally and very warmly. On arrival, I felt very welcomed and went on to spend a relaxed and refreshing stay. My room was very comfortable and immaculately clean. All the rooms are beautifully set out. All food served is home made and well worth eating. Garth and Adrienne are well acquainted with the area so were able to advise me well on what to do during the day. They went well past what would be expected of hosts in making sure my stay was comfortable and relaxing. Will definitely return and will recommend this place to many.

The hosts were very politely friendly and helpful. I cannot appreciate more about candle light dinner and romantic music.

Cotswold Cottage B&B on a hill alongside Maramarahi Rd, just south of Thames, was a very nice place for a one-night stop during November 2013. Easy to find. We wish we had been able to stay longer.

We were in the Aynsome Room, the middle of the 3 guest rooms. It had a comfortable king bed, small desk, tasteful decorations and free WiFi. There was no air conditioning, but the windows opened and A/C was not needed during our stay. Tea and cake were provided upon our arrival in late afternoon. There was a nice view across the valley from the deck outside the guest rooms and from the adjacent guest lounge, where a small refrigerator and tourism literature were provided. In the morning, hosts Adrienne and Garth provided an excellent breakfast at the time of our choosing. They also gladly provided information and advice about sights in the local area. Highly recommended.

"Charming hosts, excellent full breakfast served in a beautifully appointed dining room, classic decor with attention to smallest detail combined to make this a memorable stay. The period home sits high up in the hills overlooking the historical town of Thames. French doors open from each bedroom onto sunny veranda with great views. "After deciding to book at the very last minute a mini break for a gal pal and myself i was thrilled to come across The Cotswold Cottage. The photos of it looked stunning, so fingers were crossed that it would live up to expectations...it did and even more so!

On arrival we met the lovely Garth and Adrienne, who were so personable and simply put downright delightful. After checking out the gorgeous view over the Thames Racecourse we were treated to the most delicious homemade afternoon tea...fresh apple scones with raspberry jam!
After relaxing in our stunning room we made our way to the beautiful garden area and enjoyed a red wine in the hot spa.

The next morning we woke up to a wonderful breakfast (i'm all about the food!) of fresh croissants, bircher muesli, juices, and a full cooked breakfast made to order.

We had been at the Cotswold Cottage less than less than 24hrs, but this home away from home was so relaxing that we felt like we had been there for days.

Thank you Garth and Adrienne for your hospitality. You own a wee piece of heaven right there in Thames and we will without a doubt be back (in fact we were already planning it on the car trip home! haha)"

"We stayed with Garth and Adrienne, the new hosts for only 1 night and wished we had booked for much longer.
The place really felt like home with a caring heart.. The little touches made it interesting and the absence of little notices that can be too obvious in other B and B's enabled us all the more to relax.
The food was superb .
Although Garth and Adrienne are new to Cotswold Cottage, they are not new to the area and were able to advise us well on what to do and where to go."
Room Tip: All are beautiful . All rooms have an ensuite.. All have views to the river and out to the sea.
