Cotswold Cottage is in a lovely setting outside Thames with views over the the racecourse to the surrounding hills. The rooms are a good size and very nicely furnished. Our hosts were lovely, leaving you in peace but very attentive when you needed them. The scones on arrival were delicious and the breakfast was also excellent. Overall everything was just right.

We spent one night at Cotswold Cottage before doing the Hauraki Rail Trail. Our hosts Garth and Adrienne were wonderful ... welcoming, hospitable, and charming. They went completely beyond the call of duty for us when our car broke down short of Thames and Garth came to pick us up. We were very grateful for this extra kindness! Scones and jam and cream greeted us on our arrival, and we also thoroughly enjoyed the wonderful bbq dinner prepared for us that night. Our rooms were beautifully appointed, and very comfortable. We could have stayed longer! Definitely worth a visit.

From the moment we drove up the driveway we knew that it was going to be a beautiful place to stay. Situated on a hill with breath taking views, the gardens are extremely well maintained and the property just gives you a nice warm feeling. Garth & Arienne Familton were great hosts. This was our first experience at a B&B and we were a little sceptical about it but soon realised we had no reason to be. Arienne offered to hold our luggage as we arrived before check-in time and gave us the run down of what we could do for the afternoon/evening. Without her help we wouldn't have been able to see so many things in the Coromandel Peninsula in the little time we had. We stayed in the Holker room and we felt like we were at home the moment we walked in. Attention to detail has been applied to everything at this B&B. We certainly appreciated the Whittaker's Chocolate bars that were left with the coffee/tea amenities in the room. Breakfast was continental with the option of a hot breakfast as well. Would absolutely stay here again!

Cotswold Cottage was the perfect place for myself and bridal party to stay the night before my wedding in December 2014.

Garth and Adrienne are the most humble, genuine hosts I have ever come across. When I enquired earlier in the year regarding staying with my bridal party the night before my wedding, they were only most happy to help out, even inviting me to have a look around before booking. They accommodated 5 of us which meant we were able to have the entire B&B to ourselves the night before and the day of the wedding which made it so enjoyable when we were all getting ready.

The breakfast we were served the morning of was definitely 5 star restaurant quality, DELICIOUS!!
Everything about Cotswold Cottage felt homely and relaxing, Garth and Adrienne went out of their way to help us out and accommodate every possible request. Even including supplying PVA Glue to re-stick my false eyelashes on - as the makeup artist had already left!
Nothing ever seemed a hassle.

I would highly recommend Cotswold Cottage as a place to stay with your bridal party the night before your wedding - we felt so welcome, infact all of us want to have another girls night there!

The rooms were all large and comfortable - the beds huge! The furnishings were to die for, and the bathrooms were all a good size and SPOTLESS! Not to mention the VIEWS!

I would have absolutely no trouble recommending Garth and Adrienne to future guests.

Thank you so much for making the beginning of my wedding day highly enjoyable, relaxing and memorable!

Just returned from trip to North Island NZ. Cotswold was lovely and easy to find with a sign on the main road. Just outside of main town center. Friend and I stayed in twin bed room. Lovely and clean! Adrienne and Garth even stayed up late to help us check in! Garth gave us plenty of advice on how to tackle the peninsula as well as let us borrow beach towels and a spade for hot water beach. He even rinsed our rental car off for us after we did a little off roading through the 309 and other roads! Breakfast was fantastic! Seperate entrance to room and very quiet. Im picky about where I sleep and often travel alone as a singal gal (although I was with a friend this trip) but felt very safe and I would highly recommend staying here!

  • Garth and Adrienne were very hospitable with a welcoming full tea and pleasant review of what to do in the area. Lots of great ideas for Coromandel and guided us to some excellent stops that we would have missed without their recommendation. Rooms are cozy, common area has lots to use, and the breakfast was a delicious Kiwi fare.

B and B perfection

  • One of our best b and b stays ever. On arrival, we were served tea and home made cakes on the patio, overlooking the mountains. Adriane and Garth were excellent hosts and nothing was too much trouble for them. Garth was most helpful in advising us what to do to get the best out of our stay. We only wish we could have stayed longer.

Gorgeous views and venue, warm friendly staff!

  • Pros: Clean, friendly, beautifully decorated and great views.
  • Cons: We are very social folk so the shared public areas were a bonus for us, if you are after complete privacy I would email Garth first to arrange.
  • Location: Thames township has good cafes and a few quaint shops. Drive to Paeroa for antiques, along the coast up to Coromandel for remarkable views.
  • Cotswold Cottage was a last minute booking as we had call to stay in Thames the night. So pleased we found it - it was truly delightful. ,Very old world and 'cottagey' as one would expect but extremely well kept and immaculate facilities. If you are a sociable kind of person this place is for you as you actually mix and mingle with the other guests quite easily. Garth and his wife were super friendly and hospitable. The breakfasts were delicious. We loved it.

We stayed at this delightful B & B and thought it was great. Garth and Adrienne make you feel very welcome in their home. Rooms are spacious and very comfortable and spotlessly clean. We would definitely recommend this wonderful place to any one that wants a wonderful experience in a fantastic part of the North Island. The breakfast was great and Garth was extremely helpful with our travel plans for the next part of our trip. Thames is a great place and is a must for anyone visiting the Coromandel.

When I requested to stay at Cotswold Cottage, my request was answered promptly, professionally and very warmly. On arrival, I felt very welcomed and went on to spend a relaxed and refreshing stay. My room was very comfortable and immaculately clean. All the rooms are beautifully set out. All food served is home made and well worth eating. Garth and Adrienne are well acquainted with the area so were able to advise me well on what to do during the day. They went well past what would be expected of hosts in making sure my stay was comfortable and relaxing. Will definitely return and will recommend this place to many.

This could not have been better and at the end of a 4 week visit to NZ it was the perfect finale, in the event we wished we had left another couple of days to explore the Coromandel. Garth and Adrienne did everything possible to make us feel comfortable and were superb hosts; tea and cakes on arrival, nibbles with... More

Everything we needed: a chance to get over a lot of travelling in comfort and peace and warm friendliness. And when I was foolish enough to leave something behind the owners agreed to meet us a long way off to bring it to us. - way beyond the call of duty!

The hosts , Garth and Adrienne , were excellent . Their home is in a quiet location, outside the town, set in lovely surroundings on the top of a hill overlooking the river. Nothing was too much trouble. They were very welcoming and recommended local places of interest to see. Super full breakfast. Arrived as strangers but when we left felt like friends!

Absolutely lovely country house, friendly and helpful host couple who gave plenty of useful tips of what to do in the area. Lovely rooms, great, genuine athmosphere. Excellent way to start our NZ holiday!

There is not really much to do in Thames itself, but the location is a great place to stop and stay for touring Coromandel

"Charming hosts, excellent full breakfast served in a beautifully appointed dining room, classic decor with attention to smallest detail combined to make this a memorable stay. The period home sits high up in the hills overlooking the historical town of Thames. French doors open from each bedroom onto sunny veranda with great views. A cosy conservatory a great place to sit and watch the sun set over the valley. These hosts have "got it right" well above average."

"From the moment we arrived we were made to feel very welcome. Adrienne and Garth are great hosts, very friendly and take a lot of extra effort to add lots of extra little touches. With Adrienne's attention to detail and her decor flair she has got it so right.

We had the room with the Neatherwood suite, everything was just lovely. Came away from our 2 night stay feeling very relaxed.

Definitely one of the best places we have stayed in NZ. "

"After deciding to book at the very last minute a mini break for a gal pal and myself i was thrilled to come across The Cotswold Cottage. The photos of it looked stunning, so fingers were crossed that it would live up to did and even more so!

On arrival we met the lovely Garth and Adrienne, who were so personable and simply put downright delightful. After checking out the gorgeous view over the Thames Racecourse we were treated to the most delicious homemade afternoon tea...fresh apple scones with raspberry jam!
After relaxing in our stunning room we made our way to the beautiful garden area and enjoyed a red wine in the hot spa.

The next morning we woke up to a wonderful breakfast (i'm all about the food!) of fresh croissants, bircher muesli, juices, and a full cooked breakfast made to order.

We had been at the Cotswold Cottage less than less than 24hrs, but this home away from home was so relaxing that we felt like we had been there for days.

Thank you Garth and Adrienne for your hospitality. You own a wee piece of heaven right there in Thames and we will without a doubt be back (in fact we were already planning it on the car trip home! haha)"

"We stayed with Garth and Adrienne, the new hosts for only 1 night and wished we had booked for much longer.
The place really felt like home with a caring heart.. The little touches made it interesting and the absence of little notices that can be too obvious in other B and B's enabled us all the more to relax.
The food was superb .
Although Garth and Adrienne are new to Cotswold Cottage, they are not new to the area and were able to advise us well on what to do and where to go."
Room Tip: All are beautiful . All rooms have an ensuite.. All have views to the river and out to the sea.
