Opoutere BeachOpoutere - Described by Lonely Planet as one of the hidden gems of the Coromandel - the last great undeveloped white sand beach on the Coromandel Peninsula accessible to the public. Opoutere Beach is protected from development by a forested reserve running almost its entire length, with crystal clear water for swimming, surfing and surf casting.  At the southern end of Opoutere Beach lies the narrow entrance to the Wharekawa Harbour which is dominated by a spectacular sand spit.  Also home to several New Zealand endangered sea birds.

Alderman IslandsThen on to Onemana for a Kiwi-style morning tea and a chance to view the off-shore islands of the Slipper Group (Slipper, Penguin and Rabbit Islands), the Alderman Islands and further round Mayor Island, from a great perspective.

Martha Gold MineThe tour now continues to Waihi to join the Martha Gold Mine Tour at 12.30pm.  This is a chance to get "up close and personal" with a modern-day working gold mine.  The tour takes approximately 2 hours.  Before the tour you will be fitted out with safety gear in preparation to go on site where you will view the mine and all its workings from a very close vantage point.  The tour takes you through all the stages of the mining process with plenty of colourful stories and lots of information.  There is also a good array of heavy duty equipment on display too.  After the mine experience you rejoin us for the rest of the tour.

Karangahake GorgeWe then travel to the Karangahake Gorge for a guided walk on one of the many historic pathways.  Here you will go back in time to the gold rush era of 1875 when the hills were staked out by men from all over the world looking for gold. (This is approximately a 1 hour walk suitable for most levels of fitness)

Ohinemuri WineryAfter the walk we take afternoon tea at Ohinemuri Winery before traveling back to the comfort of Cotswold Cottage Luxury Bed and Breakfast. <<Check Facilities>>
